end of the weekend

it's been a beautiful day. sun shiny and warm, and the grass is green and the birds are chirping. it's been a beautiful weekend. and as the final precious hours of it tick away, i realize i have done absolutely nothing productive with it.
 
since thursday i have done basically nothing but go to work on friday and criss-cross the state moving kids from their college lives to back home. i've logged maybe 500 miles in that time and really enjoyed not having to do anything but drive. i have no headache and no balled up muscle driving shards of pain through my left shoulder blade.

though i'm sure that will change by the time i drag my sorry self out of bed tomorrow for another monday morning in our countdown to the end of the year.

i've been trolling my old lj entries wondering if i should import my journal, if i can figure out how to do that, or not and just consider this a whole new thing. and i've been wondering if i should post any of my old fic here as some of it really isn't posted anywhere else. i have farscape and sg-1 fic in my files.
 
and since i haven't been able to write a damn thing lately, with the online course eating my brain, old fic is all i have to offer, in case anyone is interested.

http://www.dreamwidth.org/misc/import.bml is the page you want to go to- all you need is your LJ username and password, and DW takes care of everything else.

most of my fic isn't even posted on my lj. some was, but i used that initially for more personal ramblings and rants.

so while i decide whether or not to import, and while i'm currently unable to write much of anything, i'll just post up some of my stuff that's never seen the light of lj randomly.

I've decided to keep this one a lot more anonymous and deeper than my LJ ~ more in depth theatre reviews as applicable and more of my musings on things. Just my own personal thing. I don't know. We'll see. I like knowing that it's harder for people to figure out who I am by looking between them. Hee!

I think mine is more because I have a wordpress blog that is virtually the same as my LJ, and people know about those two. I don't want to make this one unsearchable, but I also don't want it necessarily associated with me in the minds of a couple of people who I know read the wordpress one (even though they claim not to), which is why I'm making it a lot more generic in general than the LJ or wordpress ~ also taking it on a different tack...more contemplative and "bloggish" in that initial sense of the word. If that makes sense. Also definitely not putting pics in here. LOL.

Oh, thanks! I'm not seeing stuff until the 8th, so probably nothing theatrical until then. :)

i give you props on keeping up the blog. i failed miserably when i tried that last time.

and generic and different is good. i should probably go that route as well.

and my bad. i'm tired and it's late on sunday night so i'm obviously confused. :) i'll look forward to reading your theatre stuff. it will make me feel cultured. :)

Thanks! :) The LJ and wordpress is largely copy and paste ~ I write one and copy and paste to the other (some details are left out of the unlocked wordpress one, so sometimes there are changes). Those are more daily grind things.

We'll see how this one goes. So far, it's kind of fun to WRITE.

Aww, it's ok. I was just letting you know the theatre stuff will be minimal until the 8th or 9th. Well... Hopefully some excitement over Tony nominations on the 5th!

I should also add that I may put some poetry or other writings (probably non-fandom) in here depending on how things go at this new creative group I'm going to be going to. :) We'll see though. If I attempt painting or drawing, I may put pics of that on here.

i love poetry but can't write it to save my life. is the non-fandom stuff you write original work like short stories and/or a novel?

i have a novel that i started years ago locked in an lj community. i haven't touched it in ages and wish i could get jump-started on it. what kind of group are you going to? a writers' workshop? a class? one of my friends is currently taking an online writing course that i think is very beneficial. i've thought about that for myself.

and any artwork you'd like to put up here, i'd love to see. :)

I go through phases when I write it and when I don't. We'll see what happens. Non-fandom stuff would probably be one or the other ~ right now I just need to get writing. I might even try memoir of some stuff... I don't know yet.

My church is starting this new evening group for people to come and work in a group on their individual creative outlets, so I'm excited to try stuff out. Assuming things work out and I get to teach summer school, I'm going to take a course with Gotham Writer's Workshop, but for now I'm winging it.

I've done nanowrimo for 3 years. I may pull out the first novel I was trying and see what happens with that. Or work on finishing the one from the second year that I DID hit 50K words on. The one from this past year is pretty much finished...but it's theatre-related fandom, so unpublishable. LOL.

We'll see what ends up happening! :) I'll post stuff whatever I do. :)

i know what you mean about just getting started.

the church group and the writers' workshop both sound very cool. i've done nano for three years too. one year gave me the farscape novel i wrote that came in after editing and use of the machete of doom at about 103,000 words. the original novel i was trying to work on got up to about 150 or so pages, but was in serious need of editing and repair. i think a class or workshop would impose an external discipline of having to write every day which i cannot seem to do on my own right now. that's mostly what i'd hope to get from that experience.

i can't wait to see what you have to post. :)
