the church group and the writers' workshop both sound very cool. i've done nano for three years too. one year gave me the farscape novel i wrote that came in after editing and use of the machete of doom at about 103,000 words. the original novel i was trying to work on got up to about 150 or so pages, but was in serious need of editing and repair. i think a class or workshop would impose an external discipline of having to write every day which i cannot seem to do on my own right now. that's mostly what i'd hope to get from that experience.
